What’s better than a goal? A goal with a deadline!
No joke. When we first discussed setting up (at the time) Platnm we never thought we’d get here so quickly. And the reason we are accelerating even my idea of accelerated timeframes is because of Lion Nathan and Slingshot.
My co-founder (R – we’re still in stealth mode!) shot across the Lion Unleashed accelerator program details to me in Slack to review. Interesting. But we were focused on other things such as getting a job done. But we’d be foolish not to pursue this. Firstly it’s a great opportunity for us to focus on the business and get things lined up. Secondly it’s just a great opportunity. We wanted to make sure people are still connecting – really connecting. Not the posturing online and sharing of only the highs of life, but really connecting people IRL (in real life).
So after a couple of messages in Slack and a few clicks around we committed to getting our application in. That meant getting sorted. Beyond just an idea and the notes and wireframes that R already had. It meant I had to be onboarded. Especially since we had only met about 1 month previously. Online. For a set of founders we hadn’t even met IRL ourselves. But had certainly met enough times online and via Slack! More on this someone crazy story another time.
So key things were – the application form and this site. We had a couple of options to build the site and decided to build it properly. The landing page and blog via self hosted WP. Setup over 24 hours I don’t think it looks too bad! And it means we can move onto other aspects of the business rather than getting bogged down. Cos we’re GSD type of people. Both of us are. Things aren’t perfect but it’s enough for now. We can finesse things later when there is time.
So here’s to our ability to MSU (make stuff up) and GSD (get stuff done) and to making Platnm accelerated — to infinity and beyond!
